P.J. Hanley’s will reopen under a new, yet old, name

It’s back to the future for Court Street watering hold P.J. Hanley’s.

The popular 139-year-old bar will be reopening under its original, 19th century, name “Ryan’s,” according to landlord Deborah Hanley, who noted that the name change was the decision of current owner James McGown.

P.J. Hanley’s, located at 449 Court Street, closed in March of this year after McGown filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, citing liabilities between $100,000 and $500,000.

It is unknown when Ryan’s will open. McGown and Hanley are  still in court over who is responsible for building repairs.
