Throwing out all quantitative measures is just as bad as only using quantitative measures. I have no problem ignoring SAT scores, but to suggest that any measures like class rank or weighted cheap essay writers are of no value in evaluating one’s potential for academic success in college seems a bit short sighted to me. Yes, require a broad set of materials, including essays and in person interviews, but that doesn’t mean that you should ignore anything that just happens to be quantitative. I agree with not setting arbitrary cutoff points for class rank or other measures, but they can be used in conjunction with all the other material to help get a complete picture of a candidate for admission.
