62nd Precinct Police Beat: Perp throws bottle at man’s neck and runs away

Between Thursday, July 7 and Sunday, July 10, the 62nd Precinct received reports of two robberies, one grand larceny and one felony assault. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

AMBUSHED

A 20-year-old man riding his bicycle near Bay 28th Street and Cropsey Avenue on Friday, July 8 at around 2:30 a.m. was ambushed by three unknown perps and robbed, according to cops. The 20-year-old, described by police as Middle Eastern, was headed home when one of the three perps flashed a knife at him while another one punched him in the face. One of the perps then stole his bike and all three fled into Bensonhurst Park. Two of the perps were described as white males, one around 15 years of age and the other around 18, while the third perp was described as a 15-year-old black male.

SNATCHED CELL

A 19-year-old Asian man was robbed of his $850 cellphone while walking near 86th Street and 20th Avenue at around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 10. The man told police that the perp, described as a 22-year-old black man, grabbed the phone out of his hand while he was walking and fled northbound on 20th Avenue.

COSTLY ROOM

While getting a room at a Shore Parkway hotel on Thursday, July 7, a man had his wallet stolen from the check-in counter. According to police, the man didn’t realize the wallet was missing until a few hours later. The property stolen from the wallet included $820 and a credit/debit card.  There is surveillance footage available

PAIN IN THE NECK

While sitting outside with his friends near 78th Street and 21st Avenue on Sunday, July 10, a 29-year-old Hispanic man was hit in the neck with a bottle, according to cops. The 29-year-old told police that he had never seen the perp before and that his assailant didn’t say anything before throwing the bottle at him and running away. The man suffered a gash to the neck.
