ABC Carpet & Home is coming to Sunset Park’s Industry City

ABC Carpet & Home is coming to Sunset Park.

Industry City announced on Friday, March 31 that the famous furniture, carpet and home décor shop will be joining Sunset’s 16-building, six-million-square-foot manufacturing and innovation warehouses.

“ABC Carpet & Home’s move to Industry City strengthens the home furnishings industry’s presence here, adding yet another well-established brand to our growing roster of tenants, and bringing jobs to Sunset Park – including some from New Jersey,” said Andrew Kimball, CEO of Industry City.

The company will consolidate its Bronx and Hackensack operations to Industry City’s Building 19, 168 39th Street, which is also home to the Brooklyn Nets’ practice facility. ABC will have approximately 78,000 square feet of space on the first and fifth floors of the building in a space with 13-foot ceilings and superior connectivity.

“The move further establishes Brooklyn as the new center of furniture and industrial design in New York City,” Industry City said in a statement, as the hub hopes to bring more such businesses and the accompanying jobs to the neighborhood.

Though there is currently no date when ABC Carpet & Home will arrive in Sunset, it joins a growing list of businesses that have popped up in the hub, such as Design Within Reach, Egg Collective, West Elm, Coral & Tust, Danielle Trofe, WantedDesign  and more.

According to statistics, since 2013 Industry City has leased more than 2.5 million square feet of space, and tripled the number of people working at the complex from 1,900 to over 6,000 people. It expects to top $1 billion and generate a total of 20,000 jobs by 2025.

According to Industry City, the deal was led by Kathe Chase, its director of leasing, and Chase Welles of Shopping Center Group who had been brought on to the project to lease the property’s ground floor spaces.

ABC Carpet did not have broker representation for the deal.
