Arrest made in Belt Parkway crash that left one dead, three injured

A 19-year-old Staten Island man was arrested and charged with DWI after he drove his car into a guardrail on the Belt Parkway, killing one passenger and injuring three others, cops say.

According to police, the driver of the car, Joseph Auteri, was under the influence of alcohol when he lost control of his 2005 grey Acura—causing it to flip—near the Belt Parkway’s 65th Street exit ramp on Sunday, November 8 at around 6:29 a.m.

The woman sitting in the passenger seat, 19-year-old Wiktoria Filc of Staten Island, was found unconscious and unresponsive at the scene, and, later pronounced dead at Lutheran Medical Center. The car’s remaining three passengers were treated for minor injuries at Lutheran Medical Center, with Auteri himself treated for an injury to his left arm.

Auteri has also been charged with vehicular manslaughter, reckless endangerment, vehicular assault and being under the age of 21 while driving under the influence of alcohol.
