Atlantic Avenue promises festive fun this holiday season

Rock down to Atlantic Avenue.

The holiday season is well underway and where better to spend it than Brooklyn’s own Atlantic Avenue!

With a slew of holiday activities and places to get your shop on, the stretch of avenue that houses the Barclays Center is the place to be this winter season.

To kick off the festivities, the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation (AALDC) will host its Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony and Party (Thursday, December 8 from 6 to 8 p.m.), which will showcase live performances from local public schools including P.S 38, P.S 261 and the Brooklyn High School of the Arts with a special musical performance from the Unique Band.

According to AALDC, following the live musical performances, visitors will be able to enjoy refreshments and complimentary small bites donated by some Atlantic Avenue merchants including Atlantic Bagel Café, Pair Wine & Cheese, Sultan Restaurant & Café Lounge, Luzzo’s BK, Key Food, Beasts & Bottles, Brado Thin Crust Pizza, Mitoushi Sushi, Sahadi’s, Della Pietras, Trader Joe’s, Sottocasa Pizzeria, The Soul Spot Restaurant, Betty Bakery, Nevins Gourmet Deli and Moon Café.

Additionally, throughout the month of December, the AALDC will present the Atlantic Avenue Shop & Dine Promotion, which will run from December 3 through 17. Over 40 participating merchants will offer 10 percent off selected items and/or other specials.

On Saturday, December 10 from 11-7 p.m., patrons will be able to enjoy AALDC’s Walk the Windows event, featuring over 40 participating Atlantic Avenue merchants. Attendees will be able to enjoy special holiday events like workshops and holiday treats as they peruse the decorative windows along the Avenue.
