Bay Ridge artists put works on display at Weekend Walk

Fifth Avenue was overtaken by artists and revelers on the evening of Friday, June 23, as the summer’s first Weekend Walk kicked off.

Hosted by the Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District, the Taste of Fifth Avenue Weekend Walk saw artists of every medium bring their works to thousands of participants. The walk ran from 5 to 10 p.m., stretching along Fifth Avenue from 73rd Street to 84th Street.

“The artists were the big thing we were aiming for — to bring in more local artwork and craft type stuff, which turned out to be successful, in that whoever showed up was very happy,” said Weekend Walk organizer Chip Cafiero, who noted an especially-tremendous turnout on 76th and 80th Streets.

Bay Ridge is loaded with artists, amateur artists too. I already got a bunch of artists calling me who want to do it the next time, so that’s the direction it’s going to go, increased artists on the avenue,” Cafiero added.
