Bay Ridge Prep alum, now radio DJ, proposes at Coney concert

A Bay Ridge prep alum surprised his girlfriend last week with the help of a few hot friends.

On-air DJ and producer for New York’s 92.3 Amp Radio, Mike McGinn, asked Rosa Russo of Staten Island to marry him during a 98 Degrees concert at the Coney Island Amphitheatre on Wednesday, August 17.

The surprise started off with the four-man-band – comprised of brothers Nick and Drew Lachey, Justin Jeffre and Jeff Timmons – serenading Russo with their classic ballad, “I do.” After the singers took turns singing to Russo, whom they equipped with a veil, McGinn appeared at the back of the stage, ring in pocket.

“Over four years we’ve been together,” McGinn said to Russo over screaming fans. “And you think you know everything you want to say and then you just see her. But, I’m going to ask you right now, Rosa, will you marry me?”

The pair shared a sweet kiss after Russo said yes and McGinn can be seen giving an enthusiastic thumbs-up to the crowd while mouthing, “she said yes.”

McGinn took to Instagram to thank the band for their part in the proposal. “Love you boo!” he wrote. “Thanks @98official for making this happen!”
