Bay Ridge’s Fifth Avenue BID among nine to see increase in budget

Nine existing Business Improvement Districts across the city – including Bay Ridge’s Fifth Avenue BID –were granted increased annual expenditures by Mayor Bill de Blasio earlier this month.

The local BID will have nearly $90,000 in additional funding in its new annual budget, according to the mayor’s office, bringing the total to over $400,000 a year.

“The annual expenditure increase for the Bay Ridge Fifth Avenue BID will have a profound impact on the improvement of the quality of life in our neighborhood – bolstering sanitation and security services in the district, as well as seasonal programming,” said Councilmember Vincent Gentile, who has long advocated for such an increase. “I am pleased to see the increased funding come to fruition for one of the largest BIDs in Brooklyn.”

Brooklyn’s Montague Street BID has also been granted an increase in funding.
