A puppet show held at Beyond at Liberty View for its one year anniversary.

Going above and beyond.

Beyond at Liberty View at Third Avenue and 31st Street held its one year anniversary celebration from Saturday, January 13 through Monday, January 15, marking the occasion with events and demonstrations for the entire family.

“During the Martin Luther King weekend, we were thrilled to be able to celebrate our official one year anniversary,” said Director of Brand Integration at Beyond Bari Fagin. “To help celebrate, we had a weekend full of events for children and families.”

The excitement kicked off on Saturday morning with a singalong for kids by Yellow Sneaker. Later, for the adults, there was a demonstration hosted by illy on the origins of coffee and how to make perfect espresso, cappuccino and latte led by Girgio Milos.

The following day, a cooking class was held with celebrity chef and Bay Ridge resident Nick Malgieri. Fagin noted that the session was the first of three focusing on cooking with chocolate. “It was standing room only,” she added.

During the demonstration, audiences learned how to make brownies and chocolate mousse cake. The series will continue on Saturday, February 10 and conclude on Sunday, February 18.

“On Monday, we were thrilled to be able to have Wonderspark Puppets perform to a full house of children and their families and that was followed by kid-friendly recipes. The children made their own pizza,” Fagin said.

Beyond also ran a shopping spree drawing in which 10 people won $100 worth of gift cards for stores at Beyond at Liberty View.

According to Fagin, customers were thrilled with the events.

“It means a tremendous amount that the neighborhood has welcomed us and we’re very proud of all the ways we have been able to join in the Sunset Park community,” she told this paper. “We’re looking forward to not just our second anniversary but many more to come and we will continue to go above and beyond everything we do. “
