Body found in Owl’s Head Skate Park identified as 35-year-old Bay Ridge resident

Police have identified the body found inside the skate park at Owl’s Head Thursday morning, September 29 as that of 35-year-old Jennifer Cohen.

Cohen — a Bay Ridge resident who reports said was living on Fourth Avenue near 84th Street before her death — was found with multiple lacerations to the head inside of the gated skate park, a free neighborhood amenity inside Owl’s Head Park that is supposed to be closed and locked at night, but where, during the day, kids as young as five routinely bike and board.

According to NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce, it is still unclear just how Cohen — whose face and hair were covered in blood when authorities arrived — died.

The Ridge resident was not carrying ID but, according to police, investigators discovered a purse near her body containing hypodermic needles.

Her body was discovered by an off-duty firefighter who was out for a run.

According to the New York Daily News, Cohen had been arrested 24 times in the past, mostly for drug possession and petit larceny.

Her death has been ruled a homicide, and a Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death.
