Brewing up a good time for a good cause

A night of beer tasting was hosted at Marine Park Golf Course, 2880 Flatbush Avenue, on Friday, March 4 to benefit the Guild For Exceptional Children.

About a hundred people attended the event, held from 7-10 p.m., and enjoyed sampling domestic, microbrew and international beers throughout the night, provided through contributions from local distributors Manhattan Beer, Union Beer and S.K.I. Beer.

“We’re very grateful to Marine Park Golf Course and for them approaching their vendors to support our event,” said GEC Director of Development Caroline Mansuetto.

Well-known staples like Samuel Adams were on the counter for sampling, but local pours were also available, including choices from Coney Island’s Brewing Co. Beer providers also offered less frothy alternatives to guests, including the sweeter selection of hard ciders from McKenzie’s Hard Cider.

Lamb Financial Group supported the GEC’s beer tasting as an event patron, and raffle sponsors included My Benefit Advisor and Vincent Gentile, A.I.A., Architects. Desserts were provided by Ann Falutico, A.I.A. Architect. Other supporters included Key Food, Fox Paper, Gargiulo’s Restaurant, Moretti Bakery, Bassett Bakery, Bova’s Meat Market, Tasty Bagels and Mejlander & Mulgannon.

“This was our fifth annual beer tasting event and we were very grateful to have the support of our community and our sponsors,” said Mansuetto.

The Guild For Exceptional Children is located in Bay Ridge at 260 68th Street, Brooklyn, NY. The GEC can be contacted at 718-833-6633.
