To show unwavering support for Orlando in the wake of the mass shooting that left 49 people dead at a gay nightclub last week, the Community of All Faith held a “Pray for Orlando” Candlelight Vigil at the 69th Street Pier on Friday, June 17.
“This is all people of different faiths coming together to put a voice against violence,” said Mindi Schwartz, one of the vigil’s organizers alongside Katherine Khatari, Marylou Martinez and Franci Schwartz. “The community of Bay Ridge [stood] in memory of the lives lost and honor[ed] the innocent victims.”
Attendees held up candles and photos of the victims – printed with their names and ages – and stood together in prayer and moments of silence.
