Brooklyn Education: Kearney students visit Ireland

During Easter break this year, Bishop Kearney High School students enjoyed a fun and educational trip to Europe. Twenty-one students, along with their chaperones, spent nine days traveling through England, Scotland and Ireland. They appreciated the history, culture and landscape of the three countries and created lasting memories.

Congratulations to the Bishop Kearney Italian language students whose articles were published in Italian in the 2017 edition of Il Giornalino, a university publication from Queens College, City University of New York.

Il Giornalino highlights the writing of students studying Italian in New York high schools. Students submitted samples of their Italian writing, in whatever form they preferred, such as essay, poetry, fiction or non-fiction.

The Broadcast Journalism class at Fontbonne Hall Academy had the opportunity to visit FOX Studios in New York City to view a taping of ‘”Mornings with Maria.”

The students visited the bustling control room and the studio floor during filming. The class also was able to sit with Maria Bartiromo, Fontbonne Class of 1985, afterwards to ask questions and discuss the news reporting process.

Ninth-grade members of the Fontbonne Scholar Society visited New York University as part of their early college advisement. They toured the campus, received admissions information and learned about student life.

Check out Fontbonne’s Body & Soul Summer Program. Week-long sessions, available to students at various elementary and middle school grade levels, are taught by experienced Fontbonne faculty. Students will have fun, make lasting connections and learn advanced skills.

Sports camps include basketball, cheerleading and volleyball. Other programs feature writing, dance, exploring languages, playwriting and acting. The registration deadline is June 23. For more information, go to Fontbonne.org.
