Child found safe and sound after Amber Alert

Earlier today, authorities located a child who had been taken from a Manhattan mental health clinic by a male suspect who police believe may be suicidal after an Amber Alert had been issued.

The NYPD found the pair in Brooklyn shortly after 3:30 p.m., and both were taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out.

Patrick Giblin, a 50-year-old man who may be related to the three-year-old girl, allegedly abducted the child from 345 East 102nd Street in Harlem around noontime. Police said Giblin was seen leaving the mental health clinic with the child, who is believed to have Downs Syndrome.

Giblin is now in police custody.

Prior to his arrest, Giblin had been spotted driving east on the Brooklyn Bridge in a black SUV Dodge Durango with New York license plate number GDE4791. Authorities said Giblin is considered suicidal and suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
