Man wanted in grand larceny charges.

The NYPD is searching for a man in connection with the theft of three rifles and a Port Authority Police shield, among other items, from the home of a Bensonhurst woman.

On Sunday, August 13 at around 3 p.m., the victim, 44, reported the theft of cash, credit cards, a diamond ring, an Apple iPad and boxes of ammunition, as well as the rifles and police shield, to police in the 62nd Precinct, and accused 47-year-old Thomas Farrell, who had lived with her for two weeks in her residence at Avenue P and West 11th Street, as the perpetrator.

The shield belong to the victim’s brother, who died in the line of duty in 1983. The rifles had belonged to her grandfather, a retired Port Authority police officer, according to Deputy Inspector Anthony Sanseverino, the commanding officer of the 62nd Precinct.

Police describe Farrell as a 6’2″ tall and 210 pounds, with a light complexion, short gray hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo on his left arm.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).  The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577.

All calls are strictly confidential.
