Cops seek crook who pistol-whipped victim on busy Bay Ridge corner

Police are asking the public’s assistance in locating a man who allegedly pistol-whipped another man and stole his wallet on a busy Bay Ridge corner.

According to authorities, on April 14 at around 10 p.m., the 24-year-old male victim was approached by a group of five males on the corner of 86th Street and Fifth Avenue in Bay Ridge. After a dispute, an unidentified man allegedly produced a handgun and pistol-whipped the victim, causing a scrape on the side of his head. After, the group fled.

The victim refused medical attention at the scene. There were no shots fired, and no firearm was recovered. The victim’s wallet, containing his ID and an undetermined sum of money, was taken sometime during the altercation.

Responding officers apprehended one of the males, 21-year-old Muddasar Rafiq, in the vicinity of Bay Ridge Avenue and Fifth Avenue at 10:22 p.m. He is charged with robbery and assault.

The attached photo is of the allegedly gun-wielding male, who remains at large.
