Cops: Woman raped by cab driver over the weekend in Sunset Park

Over the weekend, a woman was raped by her cab driver upon arriving at her Sunset Park residence, say cops.

According to police, at around 3 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, a 29-year-old woman left a bar in the confines of the 70th Precinct and asked to be brought to her home in Sunset Park, within the confines of the 72nd Precinct.

Upon arrival at her destination, police say, the driver displayed a knife before demanding money, at which time the woman complied and handed over cash.

At that point, cops say, the driver proceeded to enter the backseat of the vehicle where he forcibly raped the victim before fleeing the scene to parts unknown.

The driver is described by police as a Hispanic male, anywhere from 20 to 25 years old, with a medium complexion. He was driving a red minivan at the time of the incident.

The woman — who was transported for evaluation to an area hospital where she was treated and released — walked to the 68th Precinct station house after the attack to report the incident.

An investigation is ongoing by NYPD’s Brooklyn Special Victims Unit.
