Early morning Bay Ridge blaze injures eight

A sizable fire was battled inside a Bay Ridge home early Tuesday morning, August 15, resulting in numerous injuries.

Sources say that, at around 7 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire on the first floor of 247 73rd Street. According to the FDNY, which issued an all-hands alert at the three-story building, the blaze was deemed under control within the hour at 7:58 a.m.

Eight people in total suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to officials, including three civilians and five firefighters.
