Feline lucky: Officers rescue kitten from car

Two officers from the 72nd Precinct were part of a meow-rific rescue mission on Monday afternoon as they helped save a small kitten that ran into the wheel well of a car.

According to police, the officers were flagged down by a motorist at around 12:35 p.m. on Monday, January 25 at the intersection of Ocean Parkway and Sherman Street.

The driver of the car, Geraldine Cassone, told cops that she saw a black kitten run into the street and then into the wheel well of her car. Officers Christopher Rinelli and Kenia Marte began looking for the kitten and eventually used a jack to lift the car and remove the wheel where the kitten was hiding – in the undercarriage of the car.

The officers were able to pull the kitten—found cold and wet, but unharmed—out safely and Cassone decided to adopt the two-month-old kitten.
