Tousands show up for the 43rd Annual Atlantic Antic™

The oldest street festival in Brooklyn just keeps getting better.

On Sunday, September 24, the 43rd Annual Atlantic Antic, held on Atlantic Avenue between Fourth Avenue and the waterfront,  was another success much to the delight of thousands of attendees.

Throughout the event, which started at 12 p.m., Brooklynites enjoyed the festival’s tradition of food, art, music, shopping, and festivities.

“This year’s Atlantic Antic Festival was so great,” said Communications & Public Relations Assistant Rebeca Checo. “Although the weather was hot, it sure did bring out tons of attendees to enjoy the festival. Every year we like to add more attractions and activities. This year the Atlantic Avenue LDC partnered up with Chef One Foods for the first time in hosting their 14th Annual Dumpling Contest on the Atlantic Antic Main Stage. It was so amazing and definitely brought a massive crowd to our festival. We also added more bounce houses and family fun activities within our Kids Zone.”

This year’s theme was The Pulse of Brooklyn, and highlighted the diversity of the different local communities it touches — Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill and Brooklyn Heights. “It was very important for us to showcase our local businesses along Atlantic Avenue as well as the beautiful Brooklyn neighborhoods which the festival spans,” added Checo.

Checo and attendees deemed the day a success.  “The Annual Atlantic Antic Festival was created to showcase the many antique, boutique and local shops/restaurants within Atlantic Avenue,” Checo said. “I believe over the years it has gotten bigger and better and it has definitely created more buzz on Atlantic Avenue and its local businesses.”
