Industry City jumpstarts spring with March Madness event

It was madness at Sunset’s Industry City.

With winter finally at an end, the six-million-square-foot facility jump-started spring with March Madness Weekend in the complex’s Building 2, 274 36th Street.

The event, which was held on Thursday, March 23 during the evening and most of the day Friday, March 24, Saturday, March 25, and Sunday, March 26, featured sample sales of designer brands, including rag & bone, Steven Alan and Clothingline.

Attendees also had the opportunity to watch the NCAA tournament, the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 at Filament, a gastropub pop-up within Industry City’s the Landing, as well as sample the eats from various food venues, and enjoy family friendly arts projects, courtesy of BRIC Arts and “Liminal Scope” by Hovver, which is an immersive light and sound installation curated by Wallplay.

Food vendors for the event included fan favorites such as Hometown Bar-B-Que, Li-Lac Chocolates, End Mets, Table 87 and more.

“The weekend was a great success. We had hundreds of visitors to both the Made at Industry City market as well as the massive four-day sample sale in the Factory Floor space,” said Director of Community Engagement for IC Cristal Rivera. “Lots of families took advantage of the arts and crafts programming presented with BRIC Arts, and checked out the Liminal Scope exhibit in the gallery pop-up space. The March Madness weekend, as well as the programming to come this spring and summer, really offers something for everyone. Keep an eye out for future updates.”
