John Travolta seen filming in Bath Beach, contruction slated for new Bay Ridge ferry and 8 other top stories

News that John Travolta was seen filming scenes for his upcoming film in Bath Beach and that construction will start in the coming weeks for the new and improved Bay Ridge ferry were two of ten top stories of the week in Brooklyn.

Travolta was spotted filming with Gravesend Native Will DeMeo near the corner of Bath and 17th Avenues on Tuesday, February 21 for the upcoming film “The Life and Death of John Gotti,” to be released in 2017.

Meanwhile, sources said on Thursday, February 23 that the long-anticipated Citywide Ferry Service, or “five-borough ferry service,” is on track to set sail on its South Brooklyn route this summer, with construction starting on the Bay Ridge stop (located at the 69th Street Pier) in the coming weeks.

The route will also have landings at the Brooklyn Army Terminal, Red Hook, Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6 near Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 1 in DUMBO and Wall Street’s Pier 11. The Total travel time from first stop to last will be just 43 minutes.
