Local pol celebrates official opening of family-favorite Greenmarket

Bay Ridge foodies are in for a sweet treat this summer with the triumphant return of the neighborhood’s family-favorite Greenmarket.

Councilmember Vincent Gentile and non-profit organization Grow NYC joined local residents and shoppers on Saturday, May 30 in the Walgreens parking lot (located at the corner of 95th Street and Third Avenue) to celebrate the official kick-off this summer’s Bay Ridge Greenmarket.

“I’m excited to kick-off another Greenmarket season in Bay Ridge,” said Gentile of the greenmarket, now on its eighth year. “We have great vendors lined up this year. From steaks to scallops and tomatoes to potatoes, we have it all.”

The grand opening culminated with an afternoon of free raffle prizes and giveaways, cooking demonstrations from Grow NYC, and a special live performance by the Fort Hamilton High School Marching Band.

The Bay Ridge Greenmarket, sponsored by Gentile, will be open every Saturday through November from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Bensonhurst Greenmarket, located on 18th Avenue between 81st & 82nd Streets, will open on Sunday, June 7 at 8 a.m.
