Man assaulted with his own umbrella while walking down Sunset Park street

Cops say a 62-year-old man was hit by his own umbrella wielded by another man while he was walking towards Fourth Avenue and 49th Street in Sunset Park on Monday, September 19.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 3 p.m., after the alleged assailant became irate when the victim’s umbrella accidentally brushed up against him.

The angry attacker reportedly took the umbrella from the victim, broke it and hit him with it.

Cops say the man also grabbed a nearby chair and swung it at the victim before fleeing the scene.

The victim sustained injuries and was rushed to NYU Lutheran Medical Center.
