Cops say a man has been shot outside of the Barclay Center.

Cops say a 50-year-old man was shot outside of Barclays Center this afternoon.

According to police, the victim was shot in the ankle in front of 620 Atlantic Avenue at approximately 2:14 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14.

The man was then rushed to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital where he is said to be listed in stable condition. After the shooting, the suspect fled eastbound on Atlantic Avenue.

Police, who quickly rushed to the scene, say they are in pursuit of a black male suspect. The man is described as being approximately 5’8″ tall and is said to be wearing form fitting black Adidas pants with white stripes, a blue cap, and a black t-shirt.

NYPD Deputy Chief Vincent DiDonato of  the Brooklyn South division updated the media at around 5 p.m. “Earlier this afternoon, a 50-year-old male who is now at Methodist Hospital was walking westbound on Atlantic Avenue in the vicinity of Flatbush when an unidentified male brandished a firearm and fired several rounds,” he said. “The 50-year-old was struck one time in the left ankle. We’re pulling video and it’s in its infancy stages.”

When asked if there was a dispute in the subway prior to the shooting, DiDonato said it was a possibility. “We believe there was a dispute between the shooter and unidentified individual or individuals,” he said. “We don’t know yet. We do know it could have emanated from the vicinity of the Barclays train station.”

MSNBC host Christopher Hayes was one of the first to tweet about the incident. “Gunshots just now outside Barclay’s Center,” he tweeted. “People ran. Police just arriving. Unclear if anyone was hit. Everyone I talked to is ok.”
