McGolrick Park greenmarket to reopen on April 7

Starting on Sunday, April 7, the McGolrick Park Farmer’s Market will be open through the rest of 2013, so get your produce bags and recipe cards ready!

This is the second year for the market, which is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Sunday through the end of 2013, along the sidewalk at Russell Street and Nassau Avenue.

In 2012, the market ran from June to November. Many of the same vendors — some of whom are from North Brooklyn — will return this year.

“The neighborhood clearly wants healthy and fresh alternatives, which was illustrated by the great turnout at the farmers market during the summer,” said Assemblymember Joseph Lentol. “I’m glad I was able to bring this market back starting in the spring all the way through the winter with the help of Parks Department Commissioner Kevin Jeffrey and Nicole Reed from Down to Earth Markets.”

The McGolrick Park Farmers Market is organized by Down to Earth Markets, which also operates the Cooper Park and Park Slope Farmers Markets in Brooklyn, as well as several others throughout New York City and Westchester.
