Motorcyclist in critical condition following accident on eastbound Belt Parkway

A 34-year-old male motorcyclist was left critically injured after colliding with a car on the Belt Parkway.

According to authorities, on Thursday, May 3 at around 3:15 p.m., the motorcyclist, riding a 2017 Ducati motorcycle, was traveling eastbound on the Belt Parkway when he struck the rear of a Nissan Rogue, also traveling eastbound, in the middle lane. Police said that the victim’s arm was severed.

EMS responded and the victim was rushed to Coney Island Hospital where he is listed in critical condition with trauma to his body.

United States Navy veteran Perry Barber witness the accident and came to the victim’s aid.

“I was entering the Belt Parkway coming east off of exit four and I saw a motorcycle doing about 80 miles an hour weaving in and out of traffic and next thing I knew, I saw a puff of smoke and the traffic came to a standstill,” he said. “I was one of the first to aid him.”

Barber described the grisly scene. “He was messed up,” he said. “One of his limbs was torn off. His legs were all twisted and he was breathing, laying on his side.”

No arrests have been made and the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
