A 24-year-old man has been arrested for the death of 63-year-old Phillip Dellegrazie who, on Monday, April 4, was run over by his own work truck.
Park Slope resident Joshua Colon was apprehended the same day and charged with murder, robbery and grand larceny in the incident.
According to cops, Dellegrazie – a Dyker Heights resident – was standing outside of his business, A & D Ironworks, 305 24th Street, when he saw a thief getting into his 2003 International flatbed truck and fleeing the scene.
Dellegrazie then followed the stolen truck in a separate vehicle, and eventually encountered the suspect in front of 709 Fourth Avenue. According to the police, Dellegrazie then approached the truck, at which time he fell to the ground and was struck by it, with Colon allegedly behind the wheel. Dellegrazie was pronounced dead at the scene.
Colon allegedly proceeded to flee from the incident, abandoning the stolen vehicle on 22nd Street between Fourth and Fifth Avenues, and continuing on foot.
