Police have recovered and identified the body of a woman who was found in the water on the shoreline rocks near the Brooklyn side of the Verrazano Bridge.

Authorities say that on Friday, March 30, at around 7:28 a.m., cops discovered 68-year-old Maria Tammik unconscious and unresponsive. EMS rushed to the scene and declared her dead on site.

Tammik, who was a Manhattan resident, was reported missing on Thursday, March 28 by her husband.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death and the investigation remains ongoing.
