“Red Nite” brings together Brooklyn movers and shakers

Dubbed “Red Nite,” Thursday, March 13 was a night of networking and a chance to be bold about the future of Brooklyn businesses.

Organized by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and hosted inside the lobby of the Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT) and in its ground floor restaurant, Pete’s Brooklyn Eats, the event was a success, bringing together representatives from small businesses, nonprofits, real estate, banks, government and a wide range of other industries.

“We’re in Sunset Park because it is one of the hottest places to do business in America,” exclaimed Carlo Scissura, president of the Chamber. “These [tenant] companies could be anywhere, but they’re choosing to create jobs, industry and economic activity here. That’s what the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is about.”

According to Dean Bodnar, portfolio manager at BAT for the city Economic Development Corporation, the Army Terminal is home to around 3,500 jobs and is an “untold gem” that promotes industrial development.

BAT is just one of several redevelopment projects currently taking shape along the Sunset Park waterfront. Others include Industry City and Liberty View Plaza, formerly known as Federal Building #2.
