Ridgewood Savings teams up with Islanders to help local charities

They shoot. They score!

Before the New York Islanders took on the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, April 9 at Barclays Center, Ridgewood Savings Bank, which has teamed up with the franchise this season to benefit two local charities, presented two checks of $12,695 each to Gateway Youth Outreach and IMPACCT Brooklyn, charities selected by Ridgewood to help in their missions and good works throughout Brooklyn and Nassau County.

Throughout the season, Ridgewood Savings Bank sponsored a program called “Save with Ridgewood” to support the charities by donating $10 with every save made by Islanders goalies during the 2015-16 season. The final tally was 2,241 saves.

“We work with many worthy causes in the communities we serve. However, these particular charities were chosen specifically for their impact in each of the areas they serve in Nassau and Brooklyn,” said Ridgewood Savings Bank’s Vice President and CRA Officer Christopher Smith. “Additionally, each charity promotes financial literacy, an endeavor that we promote in all our communities.”

Gateway Youth Outreach Executive Director Pat Boyle was thrilled with the donation. “We could not be more pleased with this opportunity to share and promote our cause of helping kids and families while being associated with a caring bank like Ridgewood Savings Bank as well as the New York Islanders,” he said. “Having Ridgewood Savings Bank recognize the importance of housing in our communities says that what we are doing is meaningful.”
