Six stellar eateries not to skip out on in Bay Ridge

Bay Ridge has never been short on superb restaurants. From atmosphere to service, and of course, to delicious and extensive menus, the neighborhood — which is renowned for the diversity of its eateries — offers something for foodies of all palates. And it’s just getting better.

Those in the mood for a high end steak can’t go wrong at Embers Steakhouse, 9519 Third Avenue. Featuring various cuts of mouthwatering beef at several prices, customers won’t leave unsatisfied. Of course, it’s not all about the steaks. Crab cakes, mussels, and more offer a perfect alternative. The desserts, such as the chocolate chip pie, are also not to be missed.

It doesn’t hurt that the customer service is top notch, the surroundings are intimate, and many locals frequent the eatery.

If you’re craving Italian cuisine and some gourmet pizza, Giacomo’s Wood Fired Pizza & Trattoria, 7902 Third Avenue, is a great place to go. Renowned Italian chefs prepare high quality pasta dishes such as Baked Ziti, delicious brick-oven pizza, and more. The family-owned restaurant gives customers a neighborhood feel that can be loved by everyone who gives it a try, not to mention that the food is affordable.

There aren’t many barbecue joints, but Bay Ridge residents are in luck with The Little Flame, 8727 Fourth Avenue.  Officially opened this past September, the venue replaced Uncle Jimmy’s Backyard BBQ. Fans of the former will be excited to know that many of the items from its menu, such as the ribs, pulled pork sandwiches and wings, have returned, made according to the original recipes, and the current owners have expanded their menu to include breakfast items as well.

Schnitzel Haus, 7319 Fifth Avenue, is where you want to be for authentic German and Austrian cuisine. Famous for its bratwurst, extensive beer selection, and the wood-lined tavern decorated setting, this is a place you want to host a party, or just dine out with friends and family.

If you’re in the mood for a good deal (and who isn’t) the restaurant offers Prime Rib Thursdays where you can chow down on a juice slice of prime rib au jus served with mashed potatoes and fresh steamed vegetables for just $17.95 after 4 p.m.

Everyone loves a good diner, and the neighborhood has no shortage of them. However, Bay Ridge Diner, 8017 Fifth Avenue, is one of the special ones. With its affordable prices on American cuisine classics such as burgers, meatloaf, breakfast food and more, you can’t go wrong. Plus, they deliver!

French cuisine lovers can get their fill at Petit Oven, 276 Bay Ridge Avenue. The bistro has a robust menu that includes a three course tasting menu. Appetizers include Roasted Butternut Squash Soup, fried oysters, and Cinnamon Creme Fraiche. Entrees also include salmon, steak, and crispy Rohan Duck Breast.

Of course, this list just scratches the surface of everything that Bay Ridge has to offer, making the neighborhood one of the great dining paradises in Brooklyn and all of New York City.
