The scene outside the apartment building in Dyker Heights where a stabbing spree took place on Wednesday morning.

Cops say a 42-year-old man went on a stabbing spree inside of his Dyker Heights apartment building earlier this morning, eventually killing a woman who, though originally was said to be his wife, is now reported to have been his mother’s tenant.

According to police, a 911 call came in at about 7 a.m. claiming that a man was stabbing family members inside of 877 Bay Ridge Avenue. While a lieutenant on the scene reportedly claimed that three people had been stabbed, a spokesperson for the NYPD could only confirm the stabbing of one victim.

That victim, 52-year-old Annemarie Vardy, was stabbed multiple times and died from her injuries.

The man — later identified as Michael Dunne, who reports further claim had locked himself inside the apartment following the dispute — was eventually arrested at the scene. The weapon was also recovered.

Cliff Hoffman, a nearby neighbor, told this paper that the suspect was taken away shirtless in an ambulance.

Vardy is said to have shared the ground-floor apartment with Dunne’s mother, Maria Maddalena, 63, and his daughter, both of whom were present at the time of the dispute, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.

This is a developing story. We will update as new information becomes available.
