Sunset Park dubbed one of 10 coolest nabes in the world

Planning a vacation? Why not make it a stay-cation?

Lonely Planet – the largest travel guide book publisher in the world – has named Sunset Park, Brooklyn as one of the 10 coolest neighborhoods in the world to visit.

The list – touted as one that spotlights trendier-yet-lesser-known neighborhoods that have either been steadily developing over the years, or are currently in the midst of a huge transformation – also names Tooting, London and Seongsu-dong, Seoul as among the top spots to travel.

The publication refers to the Southern Brooklyn ‘hood as one of the borough’s “most exciting under-the-radar” nabes “host[ing] a heady mix of cultures and traditions.” The list specifically references Sunset’s booming Chinatown as well as its storied bowling alley, Melody Lanes, which has withstood the test of time.

“At the [center] of it all,” Lonely Planet writes, is Sunset Park itself, and its “spectacular” views of the Big Apple.

Sunset is one of just two nabes to make the cut from the states. It shares the spotlight with Frelard, Seattle.
