“Every little bit helps,” said Carton during an event at the dealership, 1800 Shore Parkway, on Monday, July 8. “I’m happy to be here helping out Team Franco with this ongoing problem.”

The run, taking place on Saturday, July 13 in Prospect Park, is part of the All-Star Game celebrations for 2013’s Midsummer Classic, to be hosted at Citi Field.

New York Jets defensive lineman Antonio Garay also came out to support the cause.

Being from New Jersey, I know what the devastation was like,” said Garay.

Carton signed copies of his new book, LoudmouthDouglas Wells, president of Mercedes-Benz of Brooklyn, along with Garay, will be at a wedding in Ireland on Saturday, but that won’t keep them from participating in the race.

“We’re running a 5K in Ireland six hours before it happens here,” explained Wells.
