Twelve alleged Bushwick gang members indicted on various charges

Twelve alleged Brooklyn gang members have been variously charged for a number of different crimes, announced Acting District Attorney Eric Gonzalez on Thursday, June 8.

According to the indictment, the defendants, who range in age from 17 to 26, are alleged to be members of a Bushwick-based street gang called “True Bosses Only,” or “TBO,” whose purported territory extends north and south approximately between Broadway and Wyckoff Avenue, and east and west approximately between Cooper and Madison Streets, within the confines of the 83rd Precinct and bordering the 73rd and 81st Precincts.

Charges include conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder and weapons possession in connection with 10 separate shootings that left seven people injured.

The indictment further alleges that, between July, 2015 and the present, members of TBO have feuded with three other known, violent street gangs – “Elm Street Piru,” “Loot Gang” and “900 Gang” – all of which allegedly operate near the borders of TBO territory.

The gang’s criminal action is said to have stemmed largely out of a struggle for geographical control as well as an alleged desire to retaliate for prior shootings targeting TBO members, particularly the September, 2013 shooting death of TBO member Bashiek Reddick, also known as “Bless.”

“This indictment describes a terrifying mix of deadly force and mindless obsessions with turf, leading to serious consequences for innocent bystanders,” said Gonzalez. “We will never stop fighting against gun violence and this kind of senseless disregard for the safety of our children and neighbors.”
