Cops are looking to identify a suspect they say swiped a wallet from a jacket that was hanging inside an Avenue U deli on Tuesday, January 5.

According to police, the suspect entered the deli – located at East 16th Street and Avenue U, within the confines of the 61st Precinct – at noon and removed the wallet, which contained a debit card, identification and an undetermined amount of cash.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then entering TIP577.
