According to the New York State Department of Transportation, motorists should be advised of the following traffic pattern changes on the westbound Gowanus Expressway (I-278) beginning on Friday, August 26 at midnight and continuing through Monday, August 29 at 5 a.m.:
- There will be a closure of the right lane in the westbound direction, starting after Exit 24 (Prospect Expressway) and ending before Exit 22 (Belt Parkway/Verrazano-Narrows Bridge). The center and left lanes will remain open to traffic.
- Exit 20 (6th Avenue) will be closed. Motorists are advised to use Exit 23 (39th Street).
