THE BUZZ: Bay Ridge Voice is “Designed to help you become the singer you’ve always wanted to be”

The dulcet sounds of singing will fill the air on Saturday October 27 as Bay Ridge Voice

Mary Elizabeth MiCari, teacher of the group, and one of the eight singers for the night, has been training her students, a group of artists from various theaters and schools, for the past four months to perform four different songs pertaining to the genres of: Classical, Broadway, Jazz and Pop.

The upcoming concert will be held at the Bay Ridge Jewish Center, 405 81st Street, at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $20.

“I believe everyone can sing,” MiCari said about her students. “It’ll be an interesting experiment.”

Her youngest student is 13 years old and her oldest is in her 50s and MiCari spoke of the struggle to sing in Italian.

“It’s going to be great!” she enthused

The performers include: Ashley Chico , a leading contestant in Teen Idol, the recent local competition; Christine Conway , who works both sides of the stage, and who won kudos for designing costumes for two off-Broadway productions; Sherry Geidd, who is making the move to film and professional stage; Felix Gonzalez, a budding musician; Kristin O’Blessin, who appeared in an independent film that received recognition; Isabella Sirota, who began acting at the age of five in local theaters and now shows signs of becoming a professional singer and actress; and Erika Vasaturo, a member of the Mick Watley Band who has previously appeared on stage and with bands including The Meyer Rossabi Band.
