Create a Kid-Friendly Book Nook

(Family Features) Winter months can be difficult on kids of all ages – adults too. All the hours spent indoors can leave us feeling that cabin fever. You can, however, find creative ways to change your surroundings and inspire some quiet reading time for your child as well.

Use these tips for making your interior spaces a bit more comfy and cozy this winter season by creating a book nook:

For the temporary nookIf you don’t have the space for a permanent book nook in your house, you can still find ways to create a nice, comfortable spot for your little one to curl up with some good books.

Grab some cushions. Even if you don’t have a cozy window seat, you can create a temporary little space for your little one to enjoy their favorite reads. Grab couch cushions, pillows, fluffy blankets and teddy bears. Find a cozy space – such as below a window, in the corner of their bedroom, or even under the dining room table. If the space isn’t lit with natural light, grab some lamps to ensure the space is properly lit.

Pitch a tent. Even if the weather outside is dreadful, you can still recreate the fun and excitement of a campout indoors. If you have a tent, pitch it in the living room. If not, grab pillows, blankets and chairs and build a proper fort. Invite your kid to bring their favorite stuffed animals, books and snacks.
