Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson announced on Thursday, June 30, that a 23-year-old patient, being treated at St. John’s Interfaith Hospital psychiatric facility, has been convicted of murder for attacking a fellow patient in the shower, beating him to death and strangling him with a towel in 2013.
According to trial testimony, on March 19, 2013 at about 9 p.m., Spence Andrews of Bedford Stuyvesant repeatedly struck Conrad Delimar, 47, in the face while he was taking a shower, and proceeded to tie a towel around his neck. The victim died from strangulation and blunt force trauma, which caused a fractured skull.
Andrews will be sentenced on July 12 and faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
