Brooklyn Conservative Party comes together at annual dinner

The Brooklyn Conservative Party got together on Thursday, November 2 to mark its 55^th annual reception, an event at which, year after year, members of the party and supporters have the opportunity to enjoy a night in good company with friends, local elected officials and candidates.

“It was very, very successful,” lauded President of the Brooklyn Conservative Party Jerry Kassar. “I think everyone had a good time. I think everyone enjoyed our speakers, as well as seeing so many candidates and elected officials there. I actually found it to be one of the more upbeat events we’ve had in a long time.”

Keeping in that theme of positivity, Kassar said, the event came at a good time.

“It seemed to be, for a lot of people, a good break from the campaign a couple of days before the elections,” he said, “where they could compare notes and tell stories in a social environment that was inviting. It was just a great night.”

Brooklyn Conservative Party Vice Chair Fran Vella-Marrone agreed.

“It was a wonderful event that showcased all of our candidates,” she said. “The Conservative Party year after year puts out the principals of small government, less taxes, support for our police and for our military – and we’re a part of the community of Brooklyn, and we reach out to all parts of Brooklyn and we field candidates from all parts of Brooklyn.”

Honorees this year included Stuart Avrick (recipient of the Jim Gay Memorial Award), and Nanci Roden (recipient of the Alice Gaffney Memorial Award). Avrick was lauded as a “party stalwart” and activist while Roden is a dedicated member of the group’s executive board.

“It’s been a good year for us and the event this year was very, very successful,” Vella-Marrone added. “We’re looking forward to next year.”

The event was held at Tre Fontane, 222 Avenue U.
