Brooklyn’s first babies of 2015

New Year, new little ones!

Coney Island Hospital notched the distinction of welcoming New York’s first baby of 2015. Maxim Olenyukh, eight and a half pounds, was born to Olena and Vasyl Olenyukh at the stroke of midnight.

“Coney Island Hospital is thrilled to have the first baby born of 2015,” said Coney Island Hospital Executive Director Arthur Wagner. “We are elated to be part of such a special moment for this family.”

In addition, New York Methodist Hospital, Lutheran Medical Center and Maimonides Medical Center all kicked off the New Year with some tiny bundles of big joy on New Year’s Day.

Alveena Adnan, a baby girl born to parents Sofia Adnan and Adnan Shifiq at Maimonides, came into the world at 12:18 a.m., weighing in at eight pounds, six ounces.

Baby Sheena was Lutheran Medical Center’s first baby of 2015—weighing in at five pounds, 10 ounces—born at 12:35 a.m. to proud parents Jing and Zhaojin of Sunset Park.

Chandler Michael Clouden, six pounds, 11 ounces, was born at 2:56 a.m. at New York Methodist Hospital to happy parents Sandra and Nathaniel Clouden.
