Cocoa Grinder cuts ribbon on new roasting facility

Cocoa Grinder — a health food spot rooted in the idea of balance — celebrated the grand opening of its third Bay Ridge location on Saturday, September 24.

The occasion was marked with a ribbon cutting and “opening fiesta” outside the new spot, 6823 Third Avenue, which owner Abdul Elenani confirmed will be a roasting facility for the cafe.

Cocoa Grinder was conceived in 2013 “by a college student who always knew his generation had more to offer than going to school for four years and finding a 9-5 job,” so says Elenani, emphasizing, “An idea that we have to work hard, but keep a healthy amount of sweetness in the mix.”

There are two other Cocoa Grinders in the nabe — one at 8511 Third Avenue, and another at 8521 Fourth Avenue. This is its first location on the other end of the Ridge.
