One of the city’s largest – yet barely used – computer systems will be replaced with a new, simpler, more efficient one, said the city Department of Education, referring to the Achievement Reporting and Innovation System (ARIS).
ARIS has over a million student records but is barely used by educators and parents due to its “limited functionality and the lack of demand,” DOE spokesperson Devora Kaye told The Daily News.
The system was created in 2007 by then-Chancellor Joel Klein, whose company Amplify, secured a $10 million contract to manage ARIS.
The new system will be funded with existing funds set aside for ARIS.
