Dyker Heights home to ‘Brooklyn’s Biggest Santa’

As if Dyker Heights weren’t already the borough’s most spirited celebrator.

While walking or driving through the nabe — notorious for its larger-than-life holiday displays — one might stumble upon this year, near the corner of 14th Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway, what locals are claiming to be the “Borough’s Biggest Santa Claus.”

While it has yet to be determined if the colossal lawn blow-up is, in fact, Brooklyn’s largest, a number of residents have marveled that it is, indeed, the most massive they’ve seen — at least around these parts.

“I think this is the biggest Santa I’ve ever seen,” said one passerby named Noor, excited to catch a glimpse of the spectacle, though not as excited as a young boy named David whose eyes lit up when he exited a nearby bus with his mother and noticed the ode to Saint Nick.

“I like it!” he exclaimed. “I’ve never seen a Santa this big.”

Since its debut this holiday season, residents have stopped by to get a closer look of, pose for photos with and simply enjoy the presence of the house-sized Santa.

“I think it’s great to have a great big Santa welcoming people to Dyker Heights,” noted Fran Vella-Marrone, president of the Dyker Heights Civic Association. “What a wonderful way to celebrate the season.”
