Fourth of July fireworks illuminate Coney Island

The South Brooklyn sky was alight with fireworks on the Fourth of July, thanks to the Alliance for Coney Island’s fourth annual free fireworks show.

Spectators packed onto the Boardwalk as the 20-minute show launched off the beach near Steeplechase Pier at around 9:45 p.m.

“It was bigger and brighter this year,” said Cynthia Godla, director of events, marketing and public relations for the alliance. “Each year the show grows. We had a lot more people.”

Fireworks used during the show were provided by Garden State Fireworks.
