A scene from this year's Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Joey “Jaws” Chestnut has done it again.

The California native scarfed down a record-breaking 72 hot dogs in just 10 minutes during the 101st iteration of Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest on Tuesday, July 4.

An estimated 30,000 fans watched as Chestnut surpassed his own record of 70 hot dogs set at last year’s contest, earning his tenth Mustard Belt. Carmen Cincotti earned second place by eating 62 hot dogs, while 2015 winner Matt “The Megatoad” Stonie came in third place with 48 hot dogs.

Chestnut was not the only one who broke a personal record, however.

At the women’s competition, Miki Sudo set a personal best, consuming 41 hot dogs and winning her fourth consecutive women’s title. Sudo set her previous personal best of 38 hot dogs in 2015.

Michelle Lesco earned second place with 32.5 hot dogs, followed by Sonya “Black Widow” Thomas with 30 hot dogs. Thomas continues to hold the women’s record of 45 hot dogs, which she set in 2012.
