Prom-ising project brings students and dream dresses together

In Bay Ridge, two women are trying to make sure every girl attends her prom in her dream dress.

Donna Lubrano and her friend Norma Visconti, who owns Norma’s Arts and Crafts Supplies in Bay Ridge, have teamed up to accept used prom dresses, shoes and jewelry of all sizes, shapes and colors to give to high school girls in the community.

Up until this point, Lubrano and Visconti have received 20 dresses and they would like to continue the flow of dresses, and are also in need of shoes and jewelry.

Those interested in donating any of the items listed previously can go to Norma’s Arts and Crafts Supplies at 7813 Third Avenue in Bay Ridge today through Friday until 7 pm or on Saturday until 5 p.m. Alternatively, those same items can be taken to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 7420 Fourth Avenue, weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Dress fittings will be held on May 22 and May 23 from 7-8:30 p.m. by appointment only. Interested students can call 718-921-9200 to schedule a fitting.
